June, 6 1998. This was the day that the first episode of Sex and the City aired and graced America’s television screen with four women with completely different personalities and career paths, yet one in thing common… Style. Although I was older when I began to watch the show ( I was only 8 years old when it first aired lol), I began to appreciate the distinctly different fashion styles of each character of the show. However, one of the character’s fashion sense drew me in from the moment I first watched her strut down the streets of New York City in a pair of Jimmy Choo heels…. Carrie Bradshaw. Her character’s fearless and unique style paired with her New York state of mind is what inspired me to take many fashion risk as a teenager, and to not feel conformed by my small town surroundings and people’s opinions.
There are endless items worn by Sarah Jessica Parker’s character that I have absolutely loved. But there is one item in particular that is synonymous with her character, the tulle skirt. I was so enamored with the styling of this skirt on the show that I wanted to recreate the look in my own way!
For today’s look I paired up with my good friend, fashion & beauty blogger, designer and makeup artist Chinaza Moses (beautybetweenthelines.com). I chose a long tulle skirt from her clothing line, CAdeola. I wanted my look to consist of all of the things that I love, so I paired the skirt with my gold sequins shirt (also seen in this post) and leopard pumps. I’d like to think that there is a new fashionista in the city, that goes by the name “Chrissy Joy” 😉
