The Timberland Revival

December 3, 2013

I have always been a self-proclaimed advocate for women wearing heels and as often as possible! Heck, I would rock a pair of 6 inch heels 24/7 if I knew my feet wouldn’t transform into disturbing little creatures in the process. But let’s be reasonable. Although it’s wonderful to wear heels, there are those chill days that you just want to give your feet a break but still look chic.

My idea of a comfort outfit usually involves going for a tomboy- chic look. I choose pieces from my wardrobe like an oversized tee, leather jacket, destroyed boyfriend jeans, toboggan, etc. Basically, anything that has a laid-back feel yet can still be dressed up when styled correctly. This time around, I chose an oversized chunky sweater, leather shorts w/ opaque tights and Timberlands.

Now, let me tell you the story about these Tim’s because I haven’t always been the type of person to rock them.  I bought these boots back in 2005. It was my freshman year in high school and it was the “cool” thing to wear. I mean, EVERYBODY had a pair and in every color and fabric! I was trying to be a part of the “in crowd” at school, so I started wearing them but I felt so weird! I literally wore them twice before saying “screw this” and going back to wearing heels. After that failed attempt, I threw the boots in the back of my closet and forgot about them. Last fall they resurfaced while going through my closet to pick out things to take to Goodwill. They fit perfectly so I decided to keep them for NYC snowy days. When I finally had the chance to wear them during a blizzard, I began to like how they looked with my outfit!

Not too long after wearing them a picture surfaced of Tracee Ellis Ross rocking a pair of these coveted construction boots. I then decided that I would try incorporating Tim’s into my wardrobe for chill days.
