The Weekend Rundown: Christmas 2013 Edition

December 23, 2013

Happy Monday everyone! The weekend is over and its time to get this Christmas week underway. I hope that you all had a great weekend full of holiday cheer and fab stylish moments!

Before the weekend started, I left New York and traveled back to my hometown of Creedmoor, N.C for the Christmas holiday. I have been so excited about coming home to spend time with loved ones and old friends. I’m such a family person, so any opportunity that I get to travel back to see them, I take full advantage (which is usually every quarter). Thus far, I have been able to attend a few different Christmas parties, speak at a “Girl Talk” forum, and celebrate the birthday of my favorite man! My weekend has truly been filled with happy, heartwarming & fun moments that have given me more than enough Christmas cheer!

Let’s get right into the rundown, and take a gander at my weekend festivities!

FRIDAY: On Friday night, I had the privilege of attending a Christmas Party with my parents. A dear family friend hosted a party full of food, karaoke, catching up with old friends and my parents dancing like their lives depended on it (no exaggeration).

My outfit choice for the night included my favorite plaid pants (previously styled in “The Sequins series: Part 1”) / Slouchy black tee (H&M) / Faux Leather Jacket (Forever 21) / Chain Booties (Colin Stuart) / Long Gold Hoops- Chain Necklace (mom closet find).

Was able to catch up with an old and dear friend of mine, Amelia Hodges. I have known her and her amazing family since I was a baby!

The saying “She get’s it from her mama!!” is evident in this picture. My mom and I were dancing queens during “The Wobble”. lol

The guest at the Christmas Party. Such an amazing group of men and women that have known me since I was a baby and have been great friends to me and my family. (p.s. Sorry for the blurriness)

SATURDAY: Saturday night I attended my Godsister, and good friend, Christina Moss’s annual themed Christmas party called “Tina’s Turn Up”. This Christmas get together had a “Christmas Cheer” outfit theme that included Tacky Christmas Sweaters, Christmas colors, Christmas socks or basically any outfit that would put you or others in the Christmas spirit! All of the guest created a style statement with this theme and made it their own!

The host for the night, Christina Moss. Christina went for an all-plaid look that included mixing plaid prints. She broke up the patterns by adding a belt & finishing off her look with a pair of light brown wedges. Super cute!

This party guest added some Christmas cheer to my life with her festive Santa skirt, green tights and cute little Santa broaches, Love it!

The guys were humorous with their “Christmas Cheer” interpretations. They styling their Christmas colored sweaters with festive holiday boxers that included quotes from “A Christmas Story” as well as pictures of “Ralphie” and the infamous Red Ryder BB Gun. “A Christmas Story” is my favorite classic Christmas movie, so I was definitely put into a fun holiday mood with these looks!

A Tutu as well as Santa hats filled the room and sent Christmas joy to all throughout! 🙂

Although some decided to go more festive with their looks, Shelly decided to take a more subtle approach by choosing Christmas colors. She chose to rock a white dress, red mary-jane style pumps, statement necklace and a Santa hat to complete her look. Cute!

My look for the night was a Christmas onesie! From the moment I was told the theme for this party I have been on a mission to find the the perfect Christmas onesie to wear! I settled on creating my own look. I found the onesie at Walmart and cut off the built-in footie. I then purchased a yard of faux white fur trimming at a fabric store, and my mom sewed it onto the collar. Lastly, I took my mom’s silk bedtime hair wrap, tied it into a bow and pinned it to the front! Lol I finished the look with a pair of patent pumps.

It seems like my brother and I got the same PJ memo. He chose a “Christmas morning” get-up and wore a PJ set paired with a Santa hat. 🙂

SUNDAY: My Sunday began with a return visit to “Girl Talk”. I have spoken at this forum for young women once before and shared my story about the struggles that I faced and overcame when moving to NY and following my dreams (See “Girl Talk” post for full story). This time around I spoke to the girls about relationships (both business and personal). I talked about ways to take full advantage of networking, internships while in college and high school to build business relationships. I also spoke on making sure that they choose their personal relationships wisely and to know their worth.

If you live in triad area of N.C and are between the ages 14-26, make sure to come check it out! Meetings are every 1st and 3rd Sunday at 9am at Christian Faith Center in Creedmoor, N.C!
