Color Theory

May 5, 2014

Hey loves!

So…according to my calender we are in the middle of Spring. However, my weather app as of lately shows that New York is having spring temperatures on an average of two days a week (if we are lucky), and the rest of the days are basically fall temperatures (mid to late 50-60′s). To say that I have been perturbed with our current weather situation in New York would be an understatement. Spring is my favorite season of the year, but I have yet to be able to enjoy it to the fullest for more than 48 hours. This has definitely had an effect on my outfit choices. I usually like to pull out my sundresses and bright colors to wear everyday in the spring because they put me in a jolly mood (and it helps me to break my habit of wearing my favorite go-to color, all black). But I can honestly say that I have only worn colors on about three different occasions since the season began. I’ve been wearing mostly black, white and grey. It’s so hard for me to get into the mood of wearing colorful, fun outfits when it is cold outside.

At the beginning of last week I decided to make a change and embrace this weather and use this as a way to be optimistic rather than complain. I decided that instead of being bummed out on the days that are not as warm as I would like them to be, and wearing mute colors because of my mood, I will now pull out bright colors and prints and rock them in the midst of it all (cold rainy days, windy chilly days, and the few warm days in between.) I came up with this theory that if I can show God that I will embrace the nasty cold days with as much joy and color as I do on the warm days, then He will be bless me with more beautiful warm spring days! lol 🙂

This week’s look was a coral dress accented with a turquoise necklace, and finished off with a nude pump. I also added my favorite over-sized chunky knit sweater because it was a little windy/chilly that day. I think that this was a colorful step in the right direction in life! haha 🙂
