Don’t Be Like The Others Darling!

August 21, 2015

I was recently scrolling through Instagram when I saw a post that said “Remind yourself that you don’t have to do what everyone else is doing”. As I sat there and stared at my IPhone screen I was immediately reminded of a word that was given to me earlier this year. I was told to stop trying to be like other bloggers because I would never blend in or be like them…I was never meant to, to begin with. I would be known for my love of Jesus, and my blog would flourish for that very reason.
For any blogger being told that your blog will flourish is enough to do a few cartwheels and summer-salts! However, hearing that the reason would because of my love of Jesus, made me happy yet scared (to be quite honest). In a world of filtered dinner pictures, #ootd snaps & #armcandy inspiration, you don’t really see alot of influential bloggers post about God or talk about him in their blog post. You may hear a motivational quote here or there that’s cute or rhymes, but nothing that really speaks about the issues that we all face day-to-day in our journey of life…or the battle to live positive and spread love in a world of hate and greed.
How will people respond? Will they consider me to be like one of those bible-toting religious people? Does this mean I can’t talk about my outfit inspirations anymore? I love God but I love fashion too, can they both really be merged?
The answer is…just be a willing vessel! Let God speak through you in your blog post & everyday life, and watch him work in miraculous ways.
This is not to say that I won’t be talking about my style and what inspired it going forward, because as we have seen in the past, even God styles my looks from time to time (See #StyledByGod post)! πŸ™‚ However, I feel that this world needs more bloggers who will use their platform of influence to spread the word of Christ, motivate others to live a life with purpose, and to walk into their own personal calling in life (because we all have one!).
I don’t know where this journey is headed, but I know that I am willing and excited to take this crazy journey of faith and fashion with you all, blasting my music and dancing along the way! I am also excited to transition ChrissyJoyStyle.com from “Living life, Taking chances, & Bringing style along for the ride” to….”Living Life with Purpose & Style”

Let’s get this party started! πŸ™‚
