There are many professions that I have wanted to have in my short lifetime. In elementary, I wanted to be a veterinarian, in high school I wanted to be Dallas Cowboy cheerleader, and during college I wanted to be a boutique owner. Although all of these desires were important to me, being a boutique owner was hands down the most important goal that I have had. During my junior year of college I was so convinced that I needed to open my own boutique that I started to intern at a popular local boutique in Charlotte named “Lotus” to learn the ins and outs of the business.
Lotus had recently opened a new store location in the Metropolitan area of Charlotte, NC, when I came on board as a intern/sales stylist. I expressed to Jackie Rodney and Effie Loukas, (the owners of Lotus) that I wanted to absorb as much information from them as possible….and absorb I did! Over the course of five months I learned marketing and selling strategies, pricing, proper selling verbiage and store event planning/execution. While I loved learning these things there was one task that seemed to trump all of the others….Styling! It was something about having a woman come into the boutique desperate, stressed, on a mission, and watching her entire mood transform into happiness and relief through a styling session. It brought me happiness to see and feel someone else’s happiness! 🙂
Five months was all it took to open my eyes to my true passion beyond owning a boutique. Although interning at Lotus wasn’t my first experience with styling, it somehow changed my perspective of its beauty and helped me to realize that it was my true calling! It’s funny how God can use YOUR plan to show you HIS purpose for your life! 🙂
Fast forward five years and I have made my way back to Lotus! But I am now a full-time Freelance Fashion Stylist & Blogger, and my presence is for a collaboration! I teamed up with my favorite Charlotte (and Los Gatos!) boutique to style three looks from their Summer 2016 collection! Today’s look will be Part 1 of a 3-Part series! If you drool (which I’m sure you will!) over any of the items that you see in this series, head over to LotusLook.com and use my code : “LOTUSJOY” for 10% off your purchase! 🙂
