NYFW 2017 Style Diary

February 22, 2017

Hey Lovies!

New York Fashion Week was very interesting for me this season. It started off cold and nasty but ended on a brighter and less messy note. I only attended about 2.5 days of shows (even though I originally planned to attend 5 days) due to being sick on the first day and booking a styling gig on the last three days of shows. At first I was annoyed at how everything I’d planned seemed to be getting derailed and flipped around.  Many of the shows that I was most excited about seeing…I missed!
I forced myself to change my perspective on day four. This was the day that I was offered a styling gig for the remaining three days of Fashion Week, but wondered if it would be worth it to miss the rest of the week. However, God showed me that this was exactly what I had been praying for, but in a different package.

One of my goals for the year is to have multiple streams of income from various jobs (styling, blogging, contributing, commercial modeling, etc.) I wrote within my goals that I wanted to always have money coming in from one of these areas. God quickly reminded me of this when I accepted a styling job during a time that I really wanted to see my favorite designers new collections come down the runway (up close and personal.)  He also reminded me that I don’t have to always be on the scene and in front of the lights to have an experience. I was not at the shows for the majority of this season, but the time I attended was memorable. I made awesome connections, caught up with old friends, and made new ones. It was the perfect example of how sometimes less is more!

This season, I only have two looks for my NYFW Style Diary, but I am  in love with each look and had fun putting them together! They’re both layered looks that include pieces from Brooklyn vintage boutique, Shirley and Alice! Check them out below and let me know which one is your favorite! 🙂

17!

January 17, 2017

Hey Lovies!

Happy 17th day of year 2017!! Today is monumental for me because I have entered this new year with a belief and expectancy for total victory in every area of my life! I know without a shadow of a doubt that this will be my best year yet, and today will be the ushering in of an amazing spiritual move that God is going to make in my life!

Lately I have been studying the story of Abraham in the Bible and it has been giving me such a burst of encouragement! Abraham was an amazing man who was favored by God because of his obedience and faith. Time and time again God demonstrated to Abraham that all he had to do was trust him and he would supply all of his needs and desires. God also made a covenant with him that he would make him the father of many nations and bless not only him but all of his descendants. Which brings me to my conclusion of the day: If every person that was born after Abraham is considered his descendant, then I receive the inheritance of that blessing God promised to Abraham. ANDDDD if God made him the father of many nations, then it doesn’t matter who gets inaugurated into the oval office because my true leader will always be God…HE alone has the final say of who & what I should follow.

Today is an amazing day of discovery and abundance in wisdom! I don’t know what will be the spark that lights my year on fire, but I definitely know who will light the spark and lead me to greatness throughout this year…God! 🙂

Silenced Whispers

January 11, 2017

Hey lovies!

Have you ever felt as though you were called to complete a certain mission but it seemed as though none of your friends and/or family believed that your mission was possible to complete? Or, if completed it wouldn’t actually succeed. It can be a hard pill to swallow and will make you question if what you’re doing is actually from God, or if you’re conjuring up an idea. You begin to allow their doubt to cloud your mind and before you know it you’ve either decided to give up on the idea partially, or worst, not even starting it.

My first post of 2017 stated that this is the year of grace, and that God can and will answer our prayers and complete the promises that He has given us over our lives…but this will come to those who BELIEVE! This means that every promise God gives you should not be shared with everyone. It may also mean that you close your ears to those who want to speak negative against the purpose that God has placed in your life. As you grow in your relationship with God and go to higher levels in your walk, every person will not be able to come with you. There will be people that God will place in your life for a season, but their purpose is not to go past that allotted time. If there is one thing that I have learned in my journey with Christ is to never try to force someone to stay in your life longer than their intended time. You will know when their time has ended, and if you try to make it longer you will slow down your own personal walk with Christ.

Be obedient to where God is telling you to go, what he is asking you to do and who he is asking you to do it with. It will save you from encountering unnecessary commentary and will keep moving you towards the purpose that God has given you! 🙂

HELLO 2017!

January 3, 2017

Happy New Year Lovies!

2017 is here and I couldn’t be more excited! 2016 was a year of stepping out on faith and discovery for me. I left my job of three and a half years to pursue full-time Freelance Fashion Styling & Blogging. Needless to say my faith and strength was tested in so many ways, but I learned a lot about myself and my level of perseverance. My relationship with God grew and so did my ministry. Overall, I was very uncomfortable throughout the entire year! God continued to ask me to take new steps and He pushed me out of my comfort zone in many ways. However, I never made those steps alone because he made it clear to me that he was still in control throughout every uncomfortable situation. That reassurance is what kept me moving forward with my head held high throughout 2016.

2017 is the year of grace and favor. I believe that what you have seen from my blog in the past three years will not compare to what will come this year. I’m so excited to share the new projects that I have began working on as well as new opportunities that are on the way! God is so faithful and he’s willing to help you accomplish every goal and request that you have for 2017, but you must first believe in those goals (even the crazy big ones) and know that they can and will happen in order to see them manifest in your life.

Have you made your goals for the new year? If so, share them in the comments! I would love to hear what God is up to in your life for 2017! 🙂

Faith > Fear

December 6, 2016

Hey Lovies!

Have you ever realized how much of a “Debby Downer” doubt can be? It reminds me of a person who sees that you’re happy & enjoying life, so they make it their mission to be be rude or go out of their way to try mess up your day and piss you off. It’s like a leech that has nothing to do but grab onto your mind and make sure that it is never at peace, and that your view of life and yourself is distorted and unclear. Doubt is a major roadblock in moving forward, but the only way to remove it is to identify the cause….Fear.

Fear is the seed of doubt, the foundation of anxiety and the fuel of worry. It puts your journey on a standstill and doesn’t allow your mind to continue to grow. It also leaves you with a horrible feeling of helplessness. But there is a way to overcome fear and send it back to the hole it came from…Faith! Where there is faith, fear has to leave. There is no way that fear can operate in a person who is filled with faith and trusting in Gods will for their life. It’s just not possible!

Faith commands breakthroughs and miracles. It opens doors and restores what was broken. Most importantly, it moves you forward and removes ALL doubt. 🙂
