Patience is a gift that’s available to all but few decide to actually receive it. Some people accept their gift and have been using it faithfully, some take it out of storage as needed, and others have been letting it collect dust in the back of the closet for ages! lol I would like to think that I have been using my gift of patience everyday but the reality is that I take it out sparingly. I know that there are certain situations in which I should use it, but I seem to only use it in extreme cases. I asked God recently how I could make better use of the gift He has given me. I really wanted to learn how to have patience in every situation, not just when I have been pushed to the limit and chose to use it grudgingly.
God later showed me that patience can only grow by using it often. This can come from serving in areas that require you to use patience. Think of it like working out, your body will not get use to working out often and will always get sore until you begin to work those muscles often. The same can be said for patience! When you take the advantage of the opportunity to serve in the children’s ministry of your church, or biting your tongue at work whenever that nagging nancy says little things to get under your skin. Every response to ignorance doesn’t need to be anger. No one has been given the right to disturb your peace, it’s yours to control and keep! Practicing patience is just what the doctor (God) has ordered to keep your gift alive and well!
Check out what the other doctor (Dr. Marten) has prescribed for my look today! 🙂

“Dreams don’t work unless you do”.
I recently saw this message beautifully painted on a staircase and had a instant epiphany. All my life I’ve heard the message “pray for what you want and God will provide it” as a means of encouragement in my faith. This statement definitely reigns true, but I’ve noticed that for some (myself included) it can cause a lack of movement.
I can remember a time when I was a cheerleader in high school and wanted to be a tumbler. I had always been a base, but I wanted to add tumbling to my list of skills. I prayed that God would give me the ability to do backflips, front flips and every other flip in the book. However, during this time of prayer I never actually practiced tumbling. I went to a few classes, but never really attempted to make the time to complete the course of the tumbling program. During this time, I was determined that one day I would magically be able to do a standing back-hand spring in the middle of practice to everyone’s surprise and then boast about how God answered my prayer and blessed me with a new craft. That day never came.
I’ve learned that God can and will answer the prayers that we’ve been longing for, however, we have to start taking steps towards making those goals a reality so that He can walk with us along the way and bring us to the finish line. We can’t make a cake without ingredients, so how can God give us our dream testimony if we haven’t given Him anything to work with? The answer to your unanswered prayers are not far away, you just have to start walking up the stairs to discover them.

Happy Holy Week!
One of the most amazing week’s of the year is now underway and I’m so excited about the revelations, blessings and power that comes from understanding the significant sacrifice made for our lives during this week.
To celebrate Holy Week I decided to take the time to sit down and figure out what parts of my life I haven’t found fulfillment in. Rather than complaining about these areas, I thought about Jesus and all that He went through during this week that led up to his ultimate sacrifice for us on the cross. The inhumane, yet beautiful act of selflessness that He made so I (and you too!) could live a life of freedom, joy, peace and abundance is priceless. I realized that nothing positive will come from us harping on the areas of our lives that we wish were different. Yes, it’s okay to recognize and be aware of those areas so that you can work towards making changes. But when we constantly think “why me ” or “might as well get used to this, it’s never gonna change”, we are devaluing the ultimate sacrifice that was made for us, and saying what He did isn’t enough to overcome our current obstacles. We’re also saying although He had the power to overcome ridicule, shame and torture, our issues are too big for him to take care of.
To overcome this lack of fulfillment, I wrote two list. On one list I put the areas of my life that I want to find fulfillment and breakthroughs, and on the other I wrote the things that I wanted to do for God in order receive these breakthroughs (to whom much is given, much is required).
I challenge you this week to do the same! What areas of your life seem to be stagnant and not moving forward? Write them down, let God know what you want to do for Him in return, and pray over it. Change your thought process and believe that the change will come.
At the end of this Holy Week, you will kiss your days of lack goodbye ! 🙂

Freedom (noun): the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved.
*synonyms: liberty, liberation, release, deliverance, delivery, discharge.
Freedom is something that we all want. To be free from being bogged down by fear, stress, pain and the obstacles that are apart of this beautiful journey of life. Little do we know that freedom is a state of mind. It’s not something that you can get by breaking up with your boyfriend or paying off a bill. It comes from truly learning who you are and loving yourself from within.
These past few weeks have been such a freeing experience for me. I decided to take the time to spend time getting to know who I am (through Christ) rather than what the world tries to tell me that I am. I took some time from social media (other than posting for the blog and a few life related things) and really spent time with God and myself (having me-days without my friends). During this time I became more aware of my purpose in this world, I also began to work towards a few goals that I had put on hold for sometime out of fear.
Now, I am always usually the first person to pull out my heels and dresses when leaving the house. But during this time I found myself wearing boyfriend jeans, button downs and my converses. Granted, I did dress up the outfit with a statement necklace, but for the majority of the time I just wanted to be super casual and comfortable. I wore my hair in a bun and only wore makeup when I felt like putting it on.
Some would say that during these last few weeks I let myself go from my usual “city girl” attire. But I like to think of it as me losing pieces of myself that needed to be removed in order to gain a better perspective of who I am as a woman…..I found Freedom! 🙂
As you all know, sequins, layers and jumpsuits of all kinds are the things that I love to wear. But every now and then it’s good to have a simplistic day that includes a casual outfit that is both comfortable and chic. My usual outfit for a Sunday or any other time that I feel the need to dress up is either a dress or a skirt paired with a blouse or layered top.
But recently while planning for an upcoming photo shoot that includes minimalist/simplistic looks, I was inspired to put together an outfit for me that’s minimal, comfortable and chic. Since I was planning to attend a Dinner/Golden Globe Watch Party at a friend’s place later that evening, and I needed an outfit that could transition from day to night, I decided that the perfect time to wear it would be on Sunday.
I chose to pair a basic long sleeved white t-shirt with destroyed boyfriends jeans. I added a peplum-style cropped trench and pointed toe-pumps to keep the outfit chic.
I also wore arm candy and a gold necklace to complete the look.
Take a gander at my look as well as how my night went!

Just in case you were wondering, these ladies dominated the red carpet at the Golden Globe’s and made my Best Dressed List for the night.
